Sword of Cho Nisi Book 5
The Keeper

The ancient magic on the island of Cho Nisi is stolen, its tradition destroyed, and its protective shield ruined. But the destruction doesn't end with the broken drumbeats, nor the groan of the elders. King Barin is confronted with a vengeful adversary and a new enemy whose weapons far outmaneuver his army's bows and arrows, swords, and catapults. What have these strangers from the north come for, and will they battle for ownership of not only the kingdom's future but also its past?

REVIEW

I have always been a big fan of fantasy novels particularly if they happen to be character-led and written by an author who knows how important it is to offer readers a magical world to get lost in. D L Gardner seems to be such an author. In her latest book, The Keeper, which it seems is Book 5 of Sword of Cho Nisi, she's put together a fast-paced fantasy adventure filled with memorable, over-the-top characters and, of course, a very big dragon! Now, I must tell you, I have not read the rest of the books in the set, but as this seems to be a spin-off novel, it didn't seem to be a problem. I had no difficulty getting into the story, and I was soon lost in the magical world and the huge dilemmas facing King Barin. And I'm happy to report, I was fully enthralled all the way to the end. In terms of the writing style, the author seems very accomplished. She's particularly good at working with her characters, developing them through strong dialogue and, often as not, strong deeds. I must say, I was never bored, and I was never tempted to skip to the end of a chapter. In fact, I enjoyed every moment of this fantasy epic; so much so, I'm now going to hunt out the first book! To sum up, I'm very happy to recommend this book to anybody who's a big fan of fantasy novels. The plot is skillfully crafted, and there's plenty happening on every page to keep any reader fully absorbed. Topped off with a good dollop of suspense and a cast of very
individual characters, this is excellent fodder for fantasy fans.
